Background

As it prepared to celebrate its 50th anniversary, The New York and New Jersey Minority Supplier Development Council (NYNJMSDC) sought an experienced digital marketing partner to create and execute a holistic and comprehensive marketing and communications strategy. The Council needed an agency that was agile and innovative, and capable of managing multiple marketing campaigns at the same time, across multiple channels. All, of course, while continuing to increase search engine visibility and encourage on-site conversions. Having developed the NYNJMSDC website two years prior, a(m) was uniquely suited to help the Council achieve its marketing goals for this important anniversary year.

The Challenge

Required activities for engagement included crafting a brand message to clearly convey NYNJMSDC’s benefits to its partners; creating engaging content and effectively disseminating it to multiple stakeholder audiences; envisioning unique and compelling sponsorship opportunities for existing and prospective members; and increasing awareness of the Council’s brand through organic postings that amplified its social media presence.

While Accelerate Media had already ensured that the Council had a refreshed and well-optimized website, the rest of the Council’s marketing channels had largely been ignored before our partnership. They had no email marketing strategy and no intentional outreach to their primary audience of certified-MBEs. They weren’t regularly posting engaging content on social media. Their event landing pages were off-site and off-brand, and did not adhere to any SEO or CRO best practices. In short, their marketing efforts were in disarray—and their 50th anniversary celebrations were around the corner.

The Solution

Through months of diligent planning, Accelerate Media executed a successful full-spectrum marketing strategy. We re-audited the website to ensure that we were targeting the right keywords to improve search engine results pages (SERP) visibility. We designed and executed a thoughtful email marketing strategy that consistently delivered pertinent information to relevant audiences. We applied for and received Google Grants, allowing us to create a search campaign to further increase the Council’s reach and visibility. We integrated their signature event landing pages into their website, ensuring regularly updated content and attracting attention for sponsorship opportunities. And we created a social media marketing strategy, calendar, and approval process that ensured the Council was posting regular content, sharing their most important messages, and engaging with their followers.

Results

Web Optimizations

  • Overall website traffic in 2023 was +40% from 2022, and users to the site via organic search was +55% YOY. 
  • Overall contact form submissions were +48% YOY, while membership inquiries for corporate members were +14% YOY and certified-MBE sign-ups were +96% YOY. Similarly, sponsorship opportunities were +133%. 

Social Marketing

  • Overall the Council’s social media following increased by +17.5% YOY – 78% of this increase came from LinkedIn. 
  • Overall social impressions were +115% YOY and engagements were +178% YOY. 

Email Marketing

  • In 2023, 196 people signed up to receive the Council’s email newsletter 
  • Average open rate of the newsletter was 43% (industry average = 37%)
  • Average click-through was 3% (industry average = 1%)
